Mike Ryan
and I ran our recently completed 924 Turbo
GTR at El Toro in Irvine CA on August 6th.
The timed event was coordinated by SCCA and
Porsche Club of America. (Mike Ryan is the
brother of long time DAC member, Neil Ryan).
We chose
this event as a suitable “shakedown” since
completing the rebuild of this car, which we
received form Florida approximately one year
ago, a complete basket case, not running,
with 2 inches on water on floor, etc.
El Toro is
a retired US Marine air base that is now
used for performance car testing, training,
and time trials. The car performed
beautifully without any mechanical issues;
both Mike and I made fifteen trouble free
passes each.
Out next
venue will be a Porsche Owners Club event at
Willow Springs, which is a road racing
course about eighty miles north of Los
Angeles. This will be a timed SCCA event
with other quick cars on the track as well.
